Donna is a qualified psychodynamic counsellor and a member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy. She has over 25 years’ experience in the private, public and third sectors, working in the field of mental health including the NHS where she worked as a counsellor specialising in post stroke and brain injury patients.
She has worked in occupational health with the BBC and NHS England, as a youth worker, a project and outreach worker in the homelessness sector and with vulnerable adults in the public sector.
She holds a certificate in clinical supervision from the British Psychoanalytic Association and currently works as a Psychological Wellbeing Therapist, treating and assessing people with complex mental health needs, addiction, trauma, relationship difficulties, effects of domestic violence, bereavement, anxiety, depression, and personality disorders. She also runs art and music therapy groups and advises on developing psychologically informed environments and staff practices.
Donna believes that with the right support, building a good therapeutic alliance and a trusting relationship all people are capable of moving towards their full potential. She believes that working with the effects of trauma in an empathic, creative, and compassionate manner in partnership with her clients, is fundamental to emotional regulation, healing and developing a sense of contentment.
