Compassion Focused Therapy


​Compassion Focused Therapy is a CBT approach with particular focus on evolutionary factors and neuroscience. It was initially developed to target shame and self-criticism and it offers a way of focusing therapy and guiding therapeutic interventions especially for the development of self-soothing and self-compassion. CFT focuses on developing people’s abilities to feel inner safeness and self-reassurance as an antidote to self-criticalness. The idea is to tone up and foster certain types of positive emotions and well as reducing negative ones

Compassionate Mind Training (CMT) refers to the specific training and use of guided exercises to develop compassionate attributes of compassionate motivation, sensitivity, sympathy, distress tolerance, empathy, non-judging and non-condemning.
