Sue is qualified Cognitive Behavioural Therapist, EMDR Therapist and Counsellor providing tailored psychological therapy within the NHS and third sector for over 10 years. Currently working within the NHS as a CBT and EMDR psychotherapist providing psychological interventions to clients with a wide variety of difficulties including Depression, Trauma resulting in Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, Panic, Health Anxiety, Generalised Anxiety Disorder and OCD, Sue also specialises in working with individuals experiencing long-term health conditions
Sue has worked within the mental health field for over 20 years and a significant amount of this experience has been gained within the homeless sector and this is an area she feels passionate about as she recognises that many individuals have great difficulty accessing the appropriate support especially psychological support. Her experience gives her a good understanding of the difficulties people experience and along with her training she is able to provide comprehensive tailored psychological support which is evidenced and effective.
She believes that compassion, kindness, empathy and trust are essential components to providing psychological support to individuals. We are all human and that in itself can be difficult - if we add adversity, trauma, loss, distress, anxiety, depression, illness then life can become a real struggle. Sue aims to work with the individual in collaborative way, respecting their autonomy, validating their lived experience and supporting them by providing an environment with the necessary psychological interventions for them to heal and live a fulfilled life.
Sue has also developed skills in Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and Compassion Focussed Therapy.
